Quick Update

Well, it happened - Darren's residency came in on Sunday. That very day we confirmed and paid for our flights to Paris and booked a hotel. The location of the hotel is not optimum, but it's excellent for having booked it four days in advance. Things sure fill up fast in Paris!

The plan is to fly out of the Doha airport Thursday night, switching planes in Bahrain, and flying overnight to France. We'll spend two days with Dan & Marie before they head home and then we'll start the museum touring. We're very excited to say the least.

In other news, Darren has a few more job prospects. We'll let you know more once he actually gets hired and starts work. In the meantime, it's been great to have him around during the day to take care of things like setting up our phone/Internet connection and waiting for the refrigerator repairman to call.

It's also the last week of Ramadan. When we get back from France, the country will be back on normal schedules. We don't actually know what that means since we arrived only a few days before Ramadan was called, but I know we'll be able to do our grocery shopping before 8 pm! Ramadan moves ahead 11 days on the Gregorian calendar each year, so in a couple years' time, we'll be on summer vacation during that month and miss it all together.

So, if you don't hear from the Conleys for a few days, be happy that we're out experiencing life rather than just blogging about it. But we will be back, with new stories to tell and pictures to share.
